Libya is an African country located in the north of the continent, its territory is limited to the north by the Mediterranean Sea and Tunisia; to the west, with Algeria; to the south, with Niger and Chad; and east with Sudan and Egypt. Geographically located in the northern eastern hemisphere, it has a population of approximately 6.4 million inhabitants spread over an area of 1,759,540 km², whose capital is the city of Tripoli.

In areas close to the Mediterranean Sea the climate is Mediterranean, while in the center of the country the Sahara desert produces another climatic characteristic, marked by heat and by the scarcity of water, since in Libya there is no river that runs the whole year (they are temporary), in addition, there is a high incidence of storms. sand. Its subsoil is home to mineral wealth, the main ones being oil, natural gas and gypsum deposits.
The country's economy is guided by socialist principles, that is, planned economy. The economic base comes from the extraction and export of oil, being this product responsible for composing a large part of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product). With a modest number of inhabitants, the country has one of the best per capita incomes on the African continent, however, this does not reflect in the quality of life for the entire population, considering that the less favored classes generally do not have access to food, a fact arising from restrictions in the imports.
