Invasion sports are sports such as football, handball, basketball, futsal, rugby, Frisbee, American football, water polo and hockey.

In them, teams aim to drive an object, usually a ball, to a specific location within their opponent's court.

At the same time, they need to defend their court, preventing opponents from being able to score points.

The characteristics present in invasion sports are throwing, receiving and passing the ball or another object.

1. Soccer

Born in England in the nineteenth century, football is the most successful sport in Brazil. Perhaps the most popular is field football, in which eleven players form each team and play on a grassy field. In the past it was played only by men, nowadays there is a female sport.

It is considered an invasion sport, as participants must carry the ball using their feet to the opponent's court and insert it into the goal. For this, they use techniques such as dribbling, kicking, driving and passing.

2. Handball

Handball was created in Germany in 1919 and in its origin was played on lawns, today it is played in closed courts.

Teams aim to score goals, just like in football, but in this case it is played with their hands. That's why it received the name handball, which is the combination of the English words hand (hand) and ball (ball).

In this modality, the duration of the game is one hour, divided into two periods of 30 minutes. The game also includes dribbling and passing, with the “throwing” being an important technique to score. In men's games, the ball is a little bigger than in women's games.

3. Basketball

Basketball is also a team game that involves passing the ball with your hands. However, in this modality the goal is to insert it in a basket.

For this, hits on the ground and passes are used, in addition to offensive (attack) and defensive positions. Generally, basketball players are tall, as it is a differential in performance.

4. futsal

Futsal is a game similar to field soccer, but it is played in closed courts and has other specificities.

5. rugby

Rugby, or rugby, is a sport created in 1823 in England.

It consists of two teams, of 7 or 15 participants. The object used is an oval ball, which can be carried with the feet or with the hands.

6. Frisbee

Frisbee emerged in the 40s from a game between students in the US. The object used in this sport is a 175 gram disc that must be taken to the goal area, located at the back of the court.

There are seven participants in each team. The Frisbee, the name of the disc, is passed between the players, who have up to ten seconds to pass it on to their colleague.

A curiosity is that this game does not have referees, and the rules are normally respected by all players.

7. Football

American football is a sport that emerged in the US in the nineteenth century as a result of rugby. There it is called football, while football is known as soccer.

8. Ice Hockey
