Story of Jesus Christ

Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ was a prophet and religious leader, central figure of Christianity, considered messenger and son of God.

He was given the title "Christ", in Greek "anointed", by those who recognized Him as the one sent by God. That's why his followers are known as "Christians". For them, Jesus is the only son of God, the creator of the universe.

The life of Jesus was portrayed by Matthew, Mark and Luke and John and these books are part of the New Testament, in the Bible.

Biography

Jesus Christ

Jesus Christ was the fleshly son of Mary and raised by her husband, the carpenter Joseph, both Jews. It was probably born in 6 a. Ç. in a stable in Bethlehem, in the Roman province of Judea.

His arrival was announced to Mary, who was a virgin, by the angel Gabriel. He was generated by the Holy Spirit and Mary was chosen to conceive Him.

After his birth he was visited by three kings or magicians who followed the Star of Bethlehem, to give Him gifts such as incense, gold and myrrh. The names of these people - Balthazar, Gaspar and Melchior - do not appear in the Bible and have come to this day through Oral Tradition.

After Bethlehem, He went with his parents to Egypt, because when Herod learned of the birth of the “King of the Jews” he had all children up to 2 years old killed. When the danger passed, the family was able to return to Nazareth, in Galilee. There, Jesus lived much of his childhood and youth.

As an adult he was baptized by his cousin John the Baptist in the Jordan River, which currently lies between Israel and Jordan. Thereafter, he led a life of pilgrimage in order to teach his doctrine.

During this period, he performed several miracles and gained followers. One of the miracles that deserves attention was the "multiplication of the loaves and fishes" when, from a few foods, He manages to end the hunger of those who accompanied Him.

Among the numerous disciples, some were closer and were called Apostles:

“He called his disciples to himself, and from them he chose twelve, whom he called apostles” (Luke 6:13).

The twelve apostles also preached the gospel and would be instrumental in spreading the Christian message after Jesus' death. They are: Peter, John, James (son of Zebedee), James (Son of Alphaeus), Andrew, Matthew, Bartholomew, Simon Zelote, Philip, Thomas, Judas Thaddeus and Judas Iscariot.

The latter was the one who handed Jesus over to the Romans, being considered a traitor to Christians. According to the Gospel of Matthew, Judas Iscariot was the one who told the Roman authorities where He was in exchange for 30 pieces of silver.

Crucifixion and death of Jesus

After being betrayed by Judas Iscariot, Jesus was arrested on the Mount of Olives and tortured by soldiers in Jerusalem. He carried the cross to the place where he would be crucified and killed shortly thereafter. He is believed to be 33 years old at this time.

Jesus' resurrection

After He died, He was buried with a large stone placed in His tomb. Later, one of his disciples, Mary Magdalene, went to visit the tomb and found the place open. Later, Jesus appeared to his apostles.

Easter" - ticket, in Hebrew - represents one of the most important dates in Christianity and makes reference to the death and resurrection of Christ. In other words, the passage from death to life.

It is celebrated between the 22nd of March (the date of the equinox) and the 25th of April. Remember that the week before Easter Sunday is called “Holy Week”.
