Based in the United States, he develops works in the areas of painting, sculpture and silkscreen there.
Romero Britto Biography
Romero Britto was born into a simple family in Recife, Pernambuco, on October 6, 1963. From childhood he showed artistic tendencies and a lot of creativity.
He started studying law at the Catholic University of Pernambuco, but abandoned the course and went to the United States, the country where he settled and where he developed a solid artistic career. There, he would marry the American Cheryl Ann Britto and they had a son named Brendan Britto.
Romero Britto has become one of the most awarded painters and is one of the most prestigious Brazilian artists abroad.
In 2001 it was inaugurated in São Paulo the Romero Britto Gallery, a place that houses works and collectable art objects. As early as 2005 he was named Florida State Ambassador for the Arts and, two years later, the artist created the “Romero Brito Foundation”.
Also called “Brazilian Pop artist”, Romero is highly regarded in the United States, and had paintings acquired by many American celebrities such as Madonna, Michael Jackson and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
In addition, Britto also produced canvases for Prince William, Kate Middleton, Pelé, Roberto Marinho and Dilma Rousseff.
In the 2012 carnival, Romero Britto was honored by the Samba School “Renascer de Jacarepaguá”, in Rio de Janeiro.
Works and features
Present in countless galleries and cities around the world, Romero Britto's plastic works are influenced by the Cubist movement and by Pop Art.
From Cubism, we perceive the deformation of human or animal anatomy. From Pop Art, we see that his pieces are close to advertising language, with strong colors and messages that can be captured by the viewer immediately.
Painting
His paintings have vibrant colors and well-defined lines referring to stained glass. This makes the picture multifaceted through drawing, but also through painting.
Britto abuses geometric shapes to fill the canvas and does not use depth techniques for his compositions. So his motives are always in the foreground.
Another important feature is that your characters, even animals, are always smiling. The artist himself justifies this choice by stating that he wants to transmit joy through his works.

Romero Britto's work can be found in many airports in Brazil such as Belo Horizonte, São Paulo, Salvador, Recife, Brasília, Curitiba; and the world, in Florida and New York.
Britto also had great prominence in the advertising area, in works for brands such as Pepsi, Coca Cola, Audi, IBM, Apple, Absolut, Disney, etc.
Regarding art and its popularization, the artist himself states that:
A work of art that uses the packaging of a product to support it has enormous reach. I want my art to be democratic.

Romero Britto was awarded numerous national awards such as the Joaquim Nabuco Medal, by the Pernambuco State Assembly, in 2006.
In 2013 he was awarded the Tiradentes Medal, granted by the State Assembly of Rio de Janeiro.
Reviews
On the other hand, many art critics despise Romero Britto's work. They point out that his works are superficial, repetitive and do not reflect the problems of the contemporary world.
