The Introduction in the Explanatory Text
The purpose of explanatory writing is to present specific information on a particular topic.
In this type of text, the reader now has Details of knowledge that will be presented to you for the first time or that will be perfected.
Features
- Use of predicates organized around verbs, mainly: to be, to have, to contain, to consist, to understand, to indicate, to signify, to build, to name, to designate;
- Use of punctuation marks that introduce explanations or quotations, such as: colons, parentheses, quotation marks, and dashes;
- Use of explanatory coordinated clauses introduced by conjunctions because and why;
- Adjective and explanatory sentences;
- Reiteration markers such as: ie, with the aim of, clarifying, etc...
