Acutipupu: origin and legend

Acutipupu she is a creature that is both male and female and lived in Serra do Japó.

It is said that Acutipupu, when he was a woman, gave birth to daughters more beautiful than the stars.

On the other hand, when he met the male body, he impregnated the women and they gave birth to strong and brave boys, radiant as the sun.

One day, in the form of a woman, Acutipupu had a daughter by Uaiú, an Indian who was imposing the law of Jurupari in the region. The girl was called Erem and as she could not help being, she stood out for her great beauty.

Uaiú desired her and wanted to make love to his own daughter, but Erem refused and fled to escape his father. She was taken in by a tribe headed by Cancelri and the two ended up marrying.

However, Uaiú did not abandon his objective and declared war on Cancelri. In this fight, all of this tribe died and Acutipupu lost, thus, his dear daughter.

Origin of Legend

The legend of Acutipupu is not well known and there is no Japó mountain range. Possibly, the word is a corruption of the word Japi, whose mountain range is in the state of São Paulo.
