Regardless of what your answer might have been, the fact is that from now on we'll get to know one more important subject related to the Portuguese language, and which represents a lot of importance for us, that we need to make good use of it at all times, do you agree?
well, do you remember the verbal complements, Is not it?
We know then that these complements may or may not be accompanied by the preposition. So, going back to the previous sentences, when we ask the question to the verb, represented by the form “what is sold”? Toys, obviously. As you could see, this is a direct object, as the verb sell is classifiedas a direct transitive.
Another subject, which we have also studied, represented by the voices of the verb, as we transform the last prayer for the analytic passive voice, we will have as a result:
Toys are sold.
Now, we have that “toys” represents the subject of the prayer we are talking about, don't we?
Thus, we can state that agreement must be between the verb (for sale) and the subject (toys). Do you know why? Because the verb isdirect transitive, as we have already spoken. In this case, know that the pronoun "if" is classified as passive pronoun.
But let's look at two more cases:
Honest friends are needed.
You live peacefully here.
Analyzing the first clause, we have that the verb that constitutes it is classified as an indirect transitive, since the term that completes it is accompanied by a preposition, that is, what is needed? From sincere friends.
We want you to understand that in this case, as it is a verb that is classified as such (indirect transitive), it must necessarily remain in the third person singular, as it's aboutof an index of indeterminacy of the subject.
What about the second prayer: do you live peacefully here?
As you can see, this is a verb intransitive, that is, it does not need any complement, so it also acts as an index of indeterminacy of the subject and remains singular.
