Every text is produced with a purpose. There is information that will be given in the lines and others between the lines. Therefore, the ability to anticipate what is not seen is essential.
For this, it is important that the reader learn to go through the text, not simply trying to find words, but looking for their meaning. What words were used? What part of speech do they belong to? What is its syntactic function? What idea did the author want to convey? Why was this one used over that one?
All grammatical classes are important in the construction of the text. However, there is one that often stands out: the adverb. Why does it exist? Have you ever stopped to think about it?
Oadverbit exists to give more precision to the information. In prayer, he will act as an adverbial adjunct and will bring more details, indicating circumstances.
The human being is never satisfied with just verbal action, have you noticed? Imagine the following situation: Your friend named Rebeca arrived. You can't fit in with so much happiness and the desire to tell everyone is enormous. So, when you arrive at school, you say: "Guys, Rebeca is here!" Is it possible that people are satisfied with just this information? Probably not. And then, a hearing will begin: “When? Like? From what?, etc.” The answer to all these questions will indicate what? A circumstance of time, mode, place. Therefore, adverbial adjuncts are fundamental in the construction of the text, as they clarify the information better, making it more precise.
In addition, adverbial adjuncts may be highlighted in a certain textual genre, depending on the author's intention. Then read the poem mixed class by Carlos Drummond de Andrade and notice how the poet uses adverbs to indicate his desire.
mixed class
“Girls, girls,
By her side.
Boys, boys on this side.”
Why always two sides,
corridor in the middle,
teacher in front,
And the dream of an earthquake
Which only happens in Messina,
Never, never in Minas,
To, among the rubble, see me
Together with Conceição until the end of the course?”
*Messina: Italian city.
After reading, it is important to ask questions. A competent reader is not passive, but interacts with the text. Which grammatical class was highlighted in the poem? The adverb, isn't it? Why did this happen?
To understand, it is necessary to interpret the text. Note that the first three verses are in quotation marks, indicating that the lyrical self (who speaks in the poem) is speaking. What is highlighted in this speech? The separation that existed between boys and girls.
Already in the first verses, it is possible to see how the adverbial adjuncts build the meaning of the text. The lyrical self does not say that boys and girls were far from each other, but the adverbs indicate this: over there, over here.
From the fourth verse on, it is clear that this distancing bothered the lyrical self. To demonstrate this, he started the verse with a interrogative adverb: “Because always two sides...” In addition, the anguish of the lyrical self, by the distance between him and his beloved, is demonstrated by the adverb ever.
In the ninth verse, the adverb of time never is used twice. Here, we have an example of the adverb modifying the adverb itself. The repetition intensified the idea of the absence of catastrophes in that place.
When we finished reading the poem, we realized that the lyrical self had a passion for Conceição, so he didn't supported the distance that separated them and used the adverbial adjuncts to indicate these facts with greater precision.
Realized how the adverbia adjunctl is important for the construction of the meaning of the text?
