Flower composition. The flower and its characteristics

At flowers are structures that are only present in plants angiosperms. These structures are composed of several very important parts for the plant, including the female and male reproductive system of the plant.

In a flower we can find the following elements:

Stalk or pedicel:structure that holds the flower to the plant;

Floral receptacle:part of the flower from which all the floral elements, which are the constituent parts of the flower, come out.

It is in the floral receptacle that all the floral elements fit

The elements that attach to the floral receptacle are:

¨Cup:formed by the sepals. At sepals are those green leaves that hug the base of the petals;

¨Corolla: formed by the petals, usually very colorful and strong-smelling to attract pollinating animals;

The sepals form the chalice; and the petals, the corolla

¨Andrew:flower male reproductive tract. O androce is constituted by the stamens, structures where the pollen grains, the male gamete of the flower;

¨Gyneceus:female reproductive apparatus.

O gyneceous is constituted by the carpels, where the female gametes of the flower are kept.

Carpels are part of the female reproductive tract, while stamens constitute the male reproductive tract.
Carpels are part of the female reproductive tract, while stamens constitute the male reproductive tract.

Some species, such as pumpkin, have flowers with male structures and flowers with female structures on the same plant. In other plant species, the male flowers are on one plant, and the female flowers are on a different plant. There are other species that have, in the same flower, male reproductive system and also female reproductive system.
