Semantics. Knowing the characteristics of semantics

Semantics... surely this word is not part of your daily life, is it? Don't worry, at each meeting we will become more and more knowledgeable about this great and very rich universe – our Portuguese language.
Well, it may even be that this little word, at first, seems to represent something new, but know that the elements that belong to it are more than known to us. Do you remember synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, paronyms, those that acquire different meanings depending on the situation in which they are expressed? Yes that's right! The study of all these subjects is up to you know who? to semantics, it is clear.

The meaning that words have belongs to the study of semantics.

That way you can perfectly say:
I adore candy of banana.
my friend is a candy of person.

We know that in both examples the word “sweet” is present, but that it takes on different meanings, do you agree?
Both you can go to concert how can you also take your shoes to the repair.
We found that these are two little words identical in sound, but different in spelling and, above all, in the meaning they represent.

O length of your smile was always present in the greetings which he did to everyone present there.
The same happens in this example, because the width, the extension (length) of the smile was always present in the greetings (greetings) that made everyone.
By saying that your friend is kindness, you can perfectly say that he is charitable, as the meaning will remain the same. Yea! We are facing two words synonyms.
If every day you say that someone is beautiful, when you say he is ugly, he will probably be upset. Of course, it would be better to remain with the same opinion, because “ugly” means the opposite idea, opposite to “beautiful”. In this case, prefer to leave the antonym beside!
Did you notice how interesting it was? In a simple and quick way, we were able to understand what semantics is about, that is, the meaning that the words present, being they in a certain context, in a certain situation of Communication.
