At the time of writing, or even when we speak, without even realizing it, we make some mistakes. Because of this, it is always good to take a little time to know about what we reveal grammatical studies, not only at the time of homework or that done in class, do you agree?
Taking advantage of the opportunity to be together, let's get to know some aspects of the use of oblique pronouns, which also represents one of these flaws. Speaking of them, we can reveal something that is already known to us, because in addition to substituting the noun, in order to avoid repeating them, they also serve as complements to some verbs. Let's remember?
I saw the boy - I saw him. Here, we have the oblique pronoun “o”, which refers to the third person singular (he) replaces the word “boy” and completes the sense of the verb to see, because whenever we see, we see someone.
Continuing our studies, have you ever heard someone say "I love you"? If your answer is yes, the next time you listen, you'll know it's considered incorrect.
As we know, the indirect object and the direct object have the function of completing the meaning of some verbs that do not have them, and one is distinguished from the other only by the use of the preposition. In this way, the verb to love dispenses with this use (of the preposition). So why do we use he if he belongs to the indirect object?
So, know that the correct form is: I love you.
Another example is when we say: This job is for me to do. Did you know it's also incorrect? Try to speak in another way, but keeping the same idea you want to say. Which would be correct?
i will do the work
OR
Will I do the work? Wow, how strange!!!
As you know, in the first sentence, the “I” represents the subject, that is, he is the one who will perform the action – that of doing the work. Therefore, it is correct to say: This job is for me to do.
But what about the pronoun “me”, has no function? You will notice that this is not true, note:
This gift was given to me, not you.
Did you notice that the me now completes the sense of the verb deliver? Of course!!! Whenever we deliver, we deliver something to someone. Ready! We already know that the function of the me is only to complete the meaning of verbs, never to perform the action.
We cannot forget the demonstrative pronouns, represented by this (a) and this (a). Let's look at some examples:
This pen here is mine.
Why use the pronoun “essa”, if the pen is close to the speaker? So, remember that when this happens, we must use the pronoun “this” or “this”. Therefore:
This pen here is mine.
And if we wanted to say:
Our! You look beautiful in this dress.
Now, the dress is no longer close to the speaker, as it is exactly with the person we were talking to. In this case, we must use the pronoun "esse":
Our! You look beautiful in that dress.
