Like the Brazilian flag, the coat of arms is one of the official symbols of the Federative Republic of Brazil. was created in 1889, during the first republican government in Brazil, under the presidency of Marechal Deodoro da Fonseca.

The coat of arms is formed by a sky blue shield over a five-pointed green and yellow star. In the center of the shield are five white stars representing the southern cross constellation.

The shield is drawn over a sword and its surroundings are made up of coffee leaves - on one side the leaves bear fruit and on the other side flowers. All this on a golden splendor.

At the bottom of the coat of arms are two blue bands, with the words: "República Federativa do Brasil" and "November 15, 1889", the date of the proclamation of the republic in the country.
