Meaning of Dharma (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Dharma, or dharma, is a Sanskrit word that means that which holds high. It is also understood as the life mission, what the person came to do in the world.

the root dhr in the ancient language of Sanskrit it means support. But the word finds more complex and deeper meanings when applied to Buddhist philosophy and the practice of Yoga.

There is no exact correspondence or translation of Dharma into Western languages.

Buddhist Dharma refers to the teachings of Buddha Gautama, and is a kind of guide for one to reach the truth and understanding of life. It can also be called "natural law" or "cosmic law".

Eastern sages preach that the easiest way for a person to connect with the universe and cosmic energy is to follow the laws of nature itself, not go against them. Respect your movements and flow as natural law dictates. This is part of the Dharma experience.

Realizing and living according to your own dharma is the key to enlightenment, to a full life. It is also associated with the ability of a being to provide a service to others. So accepting and working on your dharma is a way of serving others, and it also leads to connection with the universe.

One of the ways to develop dharma is through the practice of meditation, so that the individual can get in touch with the senses. Another way is with the practice of Yoga.

In Yoga, dharma is the essence of existence based on truth. And dharma can be transmitted from master to disciple in case there is a passage of understanding between one and the other.

Dharma and Karma

Karma is another concept of Eastern wisdom, and one of the dharmic laws.

karma comes from the root kr in Sanskrit, which means to do. Karma is an action. It works like Isaac Newton's law of action and reaction in Western physics.

In the spiritual realm, karma is the reaction of the universe in relation to what a person does throughout his or her existence, including other passages through the universe, that is, other lives. Both good and bad deeds.
