Meaning of Facebook (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Facebook is social network launched in 2004. Facebook was founded by Harvard University students Mark Zuckerberg, Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes.

This term consists of face (which means face in Portuguese) and book (which means book), which indicates that the literal translation of facebook can be "facebook".

Initially, Facebook membership was restricted to Harvard University students only, and soon it went to many individual universities.

Facebook is free to users and generates advertising revenue, including banners and sponsored groups. Users create profiles that contain photos and personal interest lists, exchanging private and public messages with each other and members of groups of friends. Viewing detailed member data is restricted to members of the same network or confirmed friends, or it can be free for anyone.

Facebook has several tools, such as the wall, which is a space on the user's profile page that allows friends to post messages for them to see. It is visible to anyone with permission to view the full profile, and different Wall posts appear separately in the "News Feed".

The "Face", as it is better known, also has apps, with the most diverse subjects, and events, where the person can invite all their friends to a certain event. There are different versions of Facebook for cell phones and smartphones, which facilitate user viewing and accessibility.
