DL is the acronym for distance education. It is a form of teaching/learning mediated by technologies that allow the teacher and student to be in different physical environments.
EaD allows the student to create their own timetable to study because usually classes are taught over the internet, and the student only attends the educational institution to take the tests. In this modality, the student follows the material through media such as television, video, CD-ROM, cell phone, iPod, notebook etc.
Distance Education was regulated by Decree-Law No. 2.494, of February 10, 1998, of the Ministry of Education, regulating Art. 80 of the National Education Guidelines and Bases Law. Among other provisions, it determines that distance education will be offered by institutions specifically accredited by the Union. It will also be up to the Union to regulate the requirements for taking exams and for registering diplomas related to the course.
In distance education, students have the ability to manage their own learning, they have great autonomy to study and “watch” classes according to their available time.
Distance Education is a teaching modality that has become increasingly common. Undergraduate courses, graduate courses, technical courses, professional courses, improvement courses, etc. are offered.
