Humanization in the health area has as one of its main objectives to provide better service to beneficiaries and better conditions for workers.

Humanizing health also means that the mentalities of individuals will undergo positive changes, creating new, more capable professionals who improve the health system.

Humanization and SUS

Humanization is such an important issue in the health area that in 2003 the HumanizaSUS was launched, which represents the National Humanization Policy (PNH), which aims to improve the Single System of Health.

To reach a higher level in the healthcare area, HumanizaSUS intends to innovate in the healthcare area. According to the Ministry of Health, the main innovations are:

  • Valuing the different subjects involved in the health production process: users, workers and managers;
  • Fostering the autonomy and protagonism of these subjects and collectives;
  • Increase in the degree of co-responsibility in the production of health and subjects;
  • Establishment of solidary bonds and collective participation in the management process;
  • Mapping and interaction with social, collective and subjective health demands;
  • Defense of a SUS that recognizes the diversity of the Brazilian people and offers the same health care to everyone, without distinction of age, ethnicity, origin, gender and sexual orientation;
  • Change in care and management models in their inseparability, focusing on the needs of citizens, the health production and the health work process itself, valuing workers and social relations in the work;
  • Proposal for collective work so that the SUS is more welcoming, more agile and more resolute;
  • Commitment to the qualification of the environment, improving working and service conditions;
  • Commitment to the articulation of training processes with health services and practices;
  • It fights for a more humane SUS, because it is built with the participation of everyone and committed to the quality of its services and to comprehensive health for everyone.
