Meaning of Check-in (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Check in is an English word that refers to act of input, open an account, confirm presence at a location, register or request the initiation of some kind of process.

Usually, the check in it is the first step to be able to carry out an air or sea trip, when the passenger presents himself, delivers his documents and confirms his/her place on the trip.

The same term is widely used to designate the act of guests checking into a hotel, inn or hostel (hostel), presenting their documents and requesting to stay in pre-booked rooms for certain days. It's in the act of check in that guests receive keys to the apartment or room.

Check in at airports

You check-ins for air travel, they are the most common and must be made at least 1 hour in advance on domestic domestic flights and 2 hours in advance on international flights.

to do the check in, the passenger must look for the ticket window from the airline with which you made the reservation, present an identity document with photo, proof of reservation of the ticket and luggage (to be checked and sealed).

Nowadays, to avoid delays or queues at the booths, airlines offer the option of online check in, which can be done through the internet, or in "totems" (equipment spread throughout the airports that help in the "self check in" of passengers).
