core business means core of the business. It is an English language term. Core business means the main part of a given business, it is the strength of a company that must be strategically worked.
There are several definitions for core business, but the main one is that it means the central, main part of a company, or of a specific business area. The main objective of the core business is to make the organization explore its greatest competitive advantage, which is based on important factors such as your customers, products, technology, market, to be able to draw strategies in order to expand and maintain your business.
The biggest difficulty in core business is finding the right balance between breadth and focus, finding the ideal opportunity to expand, but without losing your strategy and thinking about how far the strategy can and must achieve. To define the area in which the organization can or cannot act, it is called outsourcing, that is, it cannot be a service outsourced, the entire process has to be controlled by the company, it can even outsource the manufacturing, but never the creation of product.
Some examples of companies doing core business are Nike and Apple. Nike is always creating new models of sneakers, with high technology, it has other products, but its business focus is on the tennis market. Apple, on the other hand, invests in its most successful products, such as Macbooks, iPhone and iPad, and outsources most of the manufacturing of its products.
