Meaning of Induction (What it is, Concept and Definition)

induction is the inducing, i.e, arrive at a result from previously present or indictable elements for such a conclusion.

But, the word induction can be interpreted from different points of view, according to the area of human knowledge.

The etymological origin of this word is in Latin induct, which can be literally translated as “carrying and bringing” or “bringing in”.

electromagnetic induction

It is a phenomenon of physics that consists of generation of electrical currents from a magnetic field.

However, according to the laws of physics, an electromagnetic induction only exists when there is a change in magnetic flux (called inductive flux).

From the variation of the flow of magnetic induction an electromotive force is created, voltage is responsible for generating the correct electrical (induced current).

The theory of electromagnetic induction is based on the law proposed by physicist Heinrich Lenz, known as "Lenz's Law".

induction cooker

The technology existing in induction stoves and ovens, for example, uses the principle of electromagnetic induction.

A system of electromagnetic fields is formed in the stove by induction, through the use of magnets. The oscillation of fields generates a frequency capable of producing electrical currents induced in ferromagnetic objects (those that are attracted by magnets).

Electric currents reach the ferromagnetic object, causing it to heat up through the joule effect. In this case, the heat is done by the pan itself and not by the hob itself.

For this reason, only specific pans for induction cookers should be used, otherwise the heating of the object placed under the hob will not take place.

In the case of induction oven technology, there is no contact between the energy source and the object being heated.

induction and deduction

Induction is a type of reasoning that consists in asserting a generalized truth based on the observation of some elements.

Example:“Mário is Brazilian and likes football, as do João, Pedro, Henrique, Maria, Joana and others. Therefore, every Brazilian likes football”.

The reasoning is the opposite: a general or comprehensive truth is the starting point for reaching specific, individual or particular conclusions.

Example:“Every planet is round. Mars is a planet, so it is round".
