Pending is the condition of what is hanging or raised. But, it can also mean something that hasn't been finished yet, which is suspended or prone.
In Portuguese, pendant can be classified as a noun or adjective of two genders.
In the legal sphere, it is said that a certain action is pending when a decision has not yet been taken on that matter, that is, it has not gone through a judgment.
The word hanging, in addition to being widely used to describe something that is hanging, like a fruit that has not been harvested or a chandelier, for example, is commonly used for a situation that depends on something or someone to be resolved.
Example: "Until my salary comes out, my vacation to Miami is pending”.
A situation is legally pending because it is in a pending condition, that is, going through the dispute period in a judicial process.
A pendant can even be an earring worn in the ear.
