Club is the name given to a weapon genre which consists of a stick that is thicker in one of your ends. It can also be called Apple or club.
This blunt offensive weapon began to be used in primitive times and reached great popularity in Egypt and Rome, being considered a symbol of power. Globally, the club was also used in Oceania, Central Africa and South America.
Over time, the club weapon evolved. What was initially a simple weapon (a rustic piece of wood), was changed to other more lethal formats and more suitable for combat. For example, some clubs have spikes or nails, to increase the damage done by the weapon.
It is important to mention that you should not confuse club and club. They are similar words in writing but with different meanings. The meaning of the word clave is explained above, while clave is a word from the musical context, which indicates a symbol placed at the beginning of the pentagram, to mark the specific position of a given note.
Club in the National Anthem
The word club is part of the Brazilian National Anthem:
"But if you raise the strong club from justice
You will see that your son does not run away from the fight
Nor fear those who love your own death"
According to this part of the hymn, the "strong club" is an expression used to describe a weapon against injustice. Thus, if the Brazilian people are faced with injustice, they will not run away, they will face their own death to fight for the good of the country.
