A storm can be characterized as a violent phenomenon or atmospheric agitation, which has a short duration and may be accompanied by strong winds, rain, hail, lightning and rays.
Typically, the storm is associated with the formation and growth of clouds of the type cumulonimbus. Water condenses in clouds due to the effect of hot air and causes intense rain, usually accompanied by a series of varied effects, such as lightning and thunderstorms.
The term, which is a feminine noun, has its origin in Latin storms, atis, which means "time of day, division of day, good weather, bad weather, squall, storm, disturbance".
Also called a natural phenomenon, the storm can present itself in different types, as a result of the effects that its formation produces. They can be: Cyclones, hurricanes, wind gusts, hailstorms, solar storms, sandstorms, among others.
THE tropical storm, for example, originates between the tropics of cancer and Capricorn and are especially feared for causing cyclones and hurricanes with devastating effects and sandstorms that are driven by intense currents of air.
In situations where storms occur, it is also common to have a power cut, which causes a general alert situation in the population.
Weather radar is one of the fundamental tools in the study of storms. Within the disciplines grid of undergraduate courses in Meteorology, storms are studied in the discipline of cloud physics.
But the storm, in its figurative sense, can express situations of great emotional intensity and agitation, such as a bad or painful phase that someone is going through.
