What is a short story?

Do you know what is tale? tale is a literary genre which contains narration. It's usually fiction and stories are often told for children. Despite being smaller, they have a beginning, middle and end. It has the presence of a narrator.

Tales came into existence many centuries ago. Before, they were just spoken and not written.

The Greeks and Romans used to tell the stories to the people on nights with a full moon. It was very common for the tales to be based on ancient oriental legends or biblical parables.

Then there were medieval Italian novels, with the French fables of Aesop and La Fontaine. Until books arrived, which are the ways we know stories today.

Then, classifications by nationality or gender began to emerge.

Characteristics of the tale

The size of the tale is its main feature. That's because they are usually smaller.

Despite this, the plot is complete, that is, it has a beginning, middle and end (or climax, which is seen as the most important moment in the story).

The princess and the pea

The Queen, the prince's mother, then placed twenty mattresses and twenty pillows with a pea underneath for the princess to sleep. It was believed that princesses could not rest well with a pea in the way.

She knows now what the story resulted and realize that despite being small, she has a beginning, middle and end (or climax).

The princess and the pea

There was once a prince who wanted to marry a princess, but he wasn't content with a princess who wasn't real. So he devoted himself to looking for her all over the world, albeit to no avail, since all he saw had some defect. Princesses there were many, but she couldn't be sure, as there was always something about them that wasn't right. So, she returned to her realm full of feeling, as she longed for a real princess!

One night there was a horrible storm. It thundered and rained down in pitches. Suddenly, there was a knock on the castle door, and the king himself went to open it.
In the doorway was a princess. But, Holy Heaven, how it had become with the weather and the rain! Water was running down her hair and clothes, her shoe was falling apart.
Despite this, she insisted that she was a real and true princess.
"Well, we'll know that soon," thought the old queen.
And, without saying a word, she went into the bedroom, took off all the bedding and put a pea on the platform, then she placed twenty mattresses on top of the pea, and upon them twenty pillows made of the softest feathers possible. to imagine.
There the princess would have to sleep through the night.

The next morning, she was asked how she had slept.
-Oh, terribly bad! – said the princess. I couldn't close my eyes all night. Go find out what was in that bed! I leaned against something so hard that I woke up in pain. It was horrible!

Hearing this, everyone understood that she was a real princess, as she had felt the pea through the twenty mattresses and twenty pillows. Only a princess could have such delicate skin.
And so the prince married her, surely she was a complete princess. The pea was sent to a museum where it can be seen unless someone has stolen it.
