In Brazil, the Tree Day is celebrated on the day September 21st. Unlike other places around the world, where the celebration takes place on March 21, the date was chosen by coinciding with the eve of early spring, which is the flower season and symbolizes the continuation of life.

The purpose of Arbor Day is to raise awareness about how important it is to preserve one of humanity's most precious possessions.

Trees are instrumental in sustaining the life of human beings. So much so that it is difficult to list all the reasons why they are indispensable and must be protected.

To cite a few examples, trees are responsible, during photosynthesis, for producing the oxygen necessary for our survival. they increase air humidity, help to preserve the health of the soil, preventing erosion, and its dry leaves, when decomposing, help in the fertilization process Natural.

In addition, they reduce the temperature, form barriers to protect against strong winds, reduce the noise pollution, retains CO2, serve as a shelter for many animals and still act to preserve the biodiversity.

As if all this were not enough, their beauty contributes to the beautification of the landscapes and offers a series of products for human consumption. In addition to fruits, it is possible to mention: teas, resins, medicines, pigments, latex, seeds and many others.

One of the ways to make the project even more regional is to use the typical trees of the region as a basis for its execution. This is also a time to extol local riches. So, it's time to introduce the children to the Cerrado, Caatinga, Atlantic Forest and other trees.

Arbor Day Project

Justification:

Taking care of nature is a habit that needs to be encouraged from childhood. The creation of this responsibility since the children's early years is one of the crucial points for the formation of adults who are aware of the importance of caring for the environment.

As the school is one of the places where people spend most of their first years of life, it becomes a more than adequate place for topics like this to be debated. More than that, it is responsible for providing the basis for individuals to be able to reflect and form critical thinking.

Thus, discussions on matters relevant to society are very relevant to the school environment. Included in these themes are those related to the preservation of nature conservation, since our survival depends directly on the balance of the planet.

Goals:

  • Raise awareness of the need for environmental preservation;
  • Work the different stages of growth of a tree and what are its main parts;
  • Develop audiovisual and auditory perceptions;
  • Enjoy nature;
  • Acquire knowledge about the life cycle of plants, especially trees;
  • Develop care and respect for nature;
  • Expand vocabulary.

Development:

  • Production of panels, murals and posters that highlight the importance of the theme;
  • Partnership with the City Hall for students to plant appropriate seedlings in places close to the school;
  • Planting seeds, such as beans and sunflowers in small cups with cotton and a little water, so that children can monitor the plant's growth;
  • Drawings, paintings, collages with different types of materials: colored pencils, crayons, gouache paint, magazines, colored paper and others;

  • Set up an exhibition of works about the trees inside the classroom or somewhere in the school;
