O Circus day, celebrated on March 27, is destined for this amusement center. The date was chosen to honor the Brazilian clown Abelardo Silva, known as Piolin, who was born on the day in 1897.
The artist was born in a circus that was set up in the city of Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo. He grew up in the circus environment, as his parents made a living from it and still worked for 30 years in the area. His fame made him a great inspiration for other clowns.
Despite being widely recognized as a clown, Piolin also performed other forms of art, such as juggling, contortionism, mimicry, music, in addition to being a singular figure of the Brazilian culture.
