ascariasis – Disease transmitted by the Lumbricoid Ascariss, popularly known as roundworm. When the water, food or hand are contaminated by the eggs of this animal and the person takes them to the mouth, contamination occurs. These parasites are lodged in the lungs, trachea and intestine.
Taeniasis or solitary – is caused by tapeworms that parasitize pigs and those that parasitize cattle. The infection occurs mainly through consumption of undercooked pork or beef. By eating the undercooked meat of these contaminated living beings, humans can become infected. Upon entering the body, the solitary one, which can reach up to 9 meters in length, is trapped in the human intestine.
Schistosomiasis or water belly – caused by the schistosome worm (Schistosoma mansoni). It enters the body through the skin when a person comes in contact with contaminated water.
