In 2012, London consolidated itself as the city that most often hosted the Olympic Games. For the next few years, Paris and Los Angeles will reach the British city, in 2024 and 2028, respectively.
London made sports history, in 1908 was responsible for the first Olympic revolution, hosted the games in 1948, after two postponements due to the Second World War, and in 2012 provided a lot of organization at the event.
1908 – London
After the failure of the Paris and Saint Louis editions, London received the Olympic Games for the first time. The first option for Olympics 1908 was Rome, but due to the eruption of the volcano Vesuvius, the government of Italy had to focus investments to help the victims.
A stadium with the Olympic brand was built, which had a capacity for 66,000 people. In addition, the evidence of swimming were played in a swimming pool for the first time. This was the first edition in which athletes actually received gold, silver and bronze medals.

After the cancellation of the 1940 and 1944 editions due to World War II, the Olympic Games returned to London again. Amidst the reconstruction process and financial constraints, the city took advantage of structures that already existed, such as Wembley Stadium.
Germany and Japan were excluded from the Olympics, due to remnants of World War II. THE Soviet Union decided not to participate.
2012 – London
64 years after the last edition in the city, London showed an organization show, with a great legacy for the region. For the first time in history, nations from all over the world were present, both male and female.
