Main insect orders of economic importance

You insects are animals belonging to phylum of arthropods that stand out for the body divided into head, thorax and abdomen, presence of three pairs of legs and one pair of antennae. These organisms are the most abundant of all animals and can cause benefits and harm to man. Next we'll talk about the main insect orders that are economically important to human beings.

Thysanura Order

In this group are the book moths, animals that have economic importance because they are considered pests. In libraries, for example, there is a need for annual control of these animals to avoid damage to the works exhibited there. Moths, despite what the name suggests, do not feed only on paper, they also eat cereals, wheat flour, wallpaper, some clothes, among other products.

Orthoptera Order

We can cite as representatives of this group the locusts, crickets and hopes. These insects are phytophagous, that is, leaf eaters. Because of this eating habit, these animals are considered major pests in agriculture.

Blattaria Order

In this group we find The cockroaches, animals known mainly for causing fear and disgust in a large portion of the population. These animals are omnivores (they feed on animal and vegetable substances) and feed on various products that man leaves stored. In addition to attacking food, cockroaches can transmit diseases and cause allergies.

Isoptera order

In this order of insects we find the termites. These animals feed on wood, books and other products that contain cellulose. For this reason, they are major urban pests, being responsible for the destruction of houses, furniture, bridges, among other objects.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

Hemiptera Order

In this order, animals such as the bedbug and the barber. It is an order of great importance, as some species are pests in plantations and some are transmitters of diseases, such as barbers, which are responsible for the transmission of Chagas disease.

Coleoptera Order

This order of insects is made up of the beetles, fireflies, beetles, weevils, between others. The main importance of this group is in the beetles, which destroy crops.

Hymenoptera order

This is one of the insect orders with the greatest economic relevance, as it includes representatives such asbees, wasps and ants. Bees stand out for their fundamental importance in the pollination process of some species of angiosperms, in addition to the production of honey, wax and royal jelly. Ants, on the other hand, are important agricultural pests.

We cannot fail to mention the medical importance of some species of this order due to the production of poison, which can cause the death of people.

Lepidoptera order

In this order there are representatives such as the moths and butterflies. These animals have a larval stage called caterpillar, which feeds on a large amount of plants, causing several damages. The silkworm is also economically important, as it is responsible for the production of silk.

Diptera Order

As representatives of this order, we have the flies, mosquitoes, black flies, between others. The importance of these insects is mainly in the transmission of diseases, such as the malaria, dengue, zika, leishmaniasis, yellow fever, among others.
