Hunger can be expressed in two ways: open or epidemic; and hidden or endemic.
Open famine occurs during periods when there is war in a certain place, ecological disasters or pests that drastically compromise the food supply, this causes the death of thousands of people.
Currently this type of famine has not occurred. Today there are several humanitarian agencies that provide food to conflict-affected areas.
Hidden hunger has another characteristic, it is that in which the individual does not ingest the minimum amount of calories a day, the result of which is the malnutrition or malnutrition that plagues 800 million people across world.
Malnutrition weakens health, making the person accessible to diseases. There has been a relative decrease in the hunger map, but the reality is still alarming.
Observing this panorama, it is noted that hunger or malnutrition is not due to insufficient food production, on the contrary, year after year production has increased in volume, and it is a fact that food production is more than enough to meet the needs of the population worldwide.
