THE diabetes It is a very common disease these days and its incidence is increasing more and more. It is linked to ineffective production or absorption of insulin by the body, which can be of three main types, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes and Gestational diabetes. Let's learn now about the type I diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes, or type 1 diabetes mellitus, is a disease related to fhigh insulin production by the body or insufficient production. Insulin is a hormone produced by beta cells, of the islets of Langerhans, of pancreas. This hormone has the function of taking the glucose present in the bloodstream, produced by the digestive process, for skeletal muscles, liver and for adipose tissue cells (tissue greasy).
When, for some reason, insulin is not produced efficiently, blood glucose (blood glucose) rises, lacking glucose for our essential metabolic processes. Inadequate production of insulin, in these cases, may be due to genetic problems or some factor that has generated destruction of the beta cells of the pancreas.
O diagnosis of the disease usually occurs early in childhood, which is why it was called juvenile diabetes. You symptoms of the disease are usually: excess urine, urine with excess “sugar”, too much thirst, sexual impotence, heart and kidney disorders; vision problems, wounds that are slow to heal, especially on the lower limbs; between others.
O treatment it is done with daily insulin applications. People with this type of diabetes are insulin dependent, Yes, they are insulin dependent. In addition to the hormone application, these people need to follow a strict diet, with low levels of carbohydrates, mostly. For carriers, it is also recommended follow an exercise program to help lower blood glucose levels and avoid some situations that increase risk factors, such as do not smoke, control blood pressure and mainly, don't self-medicate.
