Geranium is a flower originating in Africa and Australia that means harmony and affection.
These plants belong to the genera Geranium and Pelargonium, which are part of the geraniaceae family.
There are about 300 species of geraniums, many of which originate from tropical climates. Originally the botanist Linnaeus cataloged all species in the genus Geranium, but in 1789 the botanist Charles l'Héritier divided the species between Geranium and Pelargonium.
Regarding the meaning of the geranium flower, this can vary depending on the colors. However, in general, this flower is associated with personal overcoming in the face of difficult obstacles. This is because despite being a delicate flower, it has a high resistance to adversities (such as the cold, for example). Geranium flowers can come in many different colors and appear in spring and summer. This plant is very useful, especially when it is hotter, taking into account that its presence serves to ward off flies and mosquitoes. A popular belief also holds that white geraniums keep snakes away.
