Reuse water. Definition of reuse water

Across the planet, there is great concern about the availability of potable water for the population. The exacerbated use of this resource and the constant contamination and pollution of rivers and lakes favor the water crisis around the world.

Before thewater shortage, alternatives must be created for a better use of this valuable asset. Reused water is a good example of how we can avoid waste and reuse.

Reuse water can be defined as wastewater that meets established standards for its reuse. Normally, wastewater comes from the bath, kitchen, industrial manufacturing processes and infiltration water, and is usually treated in Sewage Treatment Plants.

There are two main types of reuse: indirect and direct. O indirect reuse is the one in which water is used by man and released again into water bodies without or with prior treatment. O direct reuse, in turn, is the planned use of wastewater. Thus, treatments are carried out, and this water is transported to its place of use. In the latter case, the water is not thrown into the middle.

THE reclaimed water has a lower quality compared to drinking water and is not directly used for consumption. In most cases, its use includes power generation, equipment cooling, car washing, field irrigation for cultivation, firefighting, street cleaning and water irrigation. gardens. All these activities do not require the use of potable water, so the reuse water causes that more drinking water is made available, thus helping with the problem of supply.

Reuse water is, without a doubt, a great alternative for the current water crisis in which Brazil finds itself. The reuse of water promotes the sustainable use of water resources, reduces the amount of sewage released in rivers and lakes, in addition, of course, to increasing availability for purposes where there is a need for potability.

Curiosity: Currently, reuse water is not used for human consumption in Brazil, however, several works are being carried out to make this possible soon.
