SESMT is the acronym for Specialized Service in Safety Engineering and Occupational Medicine and it is a team of health professionals, who stay within the companies to protect the physical integrity of workers.
The SESMT is established in article 162 of the Consolidation of labor laws and is regulated by Regulatory Standard 04. Depending on the number of employees and the nature of the activities, the service may include the following professionals: work, occupational nurse, occupational nursing technician, occupational safety engineer and occupational safety technician work.
SESMT was created with the increase in accidents that employees, in general, were suffering in the workplace. But not only for that, the SESMT also has the function of alerting and giving instructions to employees about the appearance of new illnesses, clarifications about any type of illness and also to prevent small work accidents from happening and harming the company.
