The Origin of the Moon

It is not known for sure how the moon originated, but there are numerous theories that report its appearance in orbit. The most widely accepted theory today is that the moon formed through a collision between planet Earth and a body the size of Mars approximately 4.6 billion years ago.

The clash between the two bodies is believed to have occurred in the last phase of the Earth's formation process, when part of its core was lost. A dust cloud formed over the Earth as a result of the collision.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

The lost part of the nucleus underwent a process of condensation and approached the plane of the ecliptic, which caused this condensed nucleus to enter into orbit. Its temperature after condensation explains the absence of volatile compounds in lunar rocks.
