In the case of the presuppositions recommended by grammar, those related to the field of syntax are the target of different questions, no doubt. Among them is the concordance syntax, specifically the nominal. It is demarcated by the adaptation in gender and number that is established between the noun and its respective modifiers, now represented by articles, adjectives, numerals and pronouns.
In view of this linguistic reality, we propose to establish a little more familiarity with issues related to it, which is why we chose some cases inherent to the doubts of agreement.

“Thank you”, like “attachment”, is classified as an adjective, which is why it must agree with the name to which it refers. So check out:
- Thank you - said the girl to the boy.
- Thank you - said the boy to the girl.
alone, alone and alone
The word “alone” in the condition of an adjective and equivalent to alone, unique, solitary, presents inflection of number, that is, it agrees with the name to which it refers. Note the following examples:
They are alone.
She is alone.
Representing the role of adverb, denoting the meaning of uniquely, only, the word “only” remains invariable. Note what happens in the following statements:
It only manifests itself in front of a few people. (only)
I will only go to the movies if you go with me. (same as in the previous direction)
The expression “alone” also remains unchanged, revealing the meaning referring to “without company”. Find out:
I will leave you alone for a moment.
