The acronym MP stands for Public Ministry, an institution charged with defending the interests of Brazilian society as a whole, with the obligation to be non-partisan, impartial and professional in the causes of its competence.
The Federal Constitution, in its article 127, delegated to the Public Ministry the defense “of the legal order, of the democratic regime and of unavailable social and individual interests”. It is an institution of fundamental importance in the jurisdictional functions of the State.
