SSP is the acronym for Department of Public Safety, and it is a Brazilian public agency responsible person who has several functions.
Some of the activities of the SSP is to allow the registration of reports on the occurrence of vehicle theft, loss of documents, disappearance of people and others.
The Public Security Secretariat is also responsible for issuing citizens' identity cards. When the card is issued, it appears at the top SSP, which is the issuing agency and also the State in which it was issued.
Each Brazilian state has its own SSP, and its shares. The SSP is also responsible for issuing the Criminal Records Certificate, which is the document that seeks records of individuals in the Police records, and it is a document much requested by companies and other agencies public.
The main objective of the SSP is to guarantee public order and the preservation of citizen guarantees, as well as the protection of life and property through the joint action of its security bodies. The SSP takes several actions to prevent and contain crime and control the possession of weapons.
The Secretariat of Public Security works with several other administrative bodies in each State, also for fight and prevent corruption, reduce violence and crime, and manage the service penitentiary.
