The Bahá’í Faith is a religion that emerged in Persia, today Iran, in 1844. It has its own laws and sacred scriptures which are based on the teachings of Bahau’llah and it has no rituals, cults, clergy and dogmas.
His teachings were spread all over the world and quickly the religion grew in quantity. of faithful and has spread to all continents, mainly in Asia, Africa and America Latin.
• History
It originated from Sayyid's Ali Muhammad Shirázi, a merchant who after several examinations found himself different and consecrated himself Báb (the door) and called his followers Bábis. In 1844, he won eighteen disciples in Shiraz and consecrated them “letters of life”. Báb dispersed them to different locations in order to propagate, but he was not very successful and they returned to Shiraz. During this period, all regions of Iran came to know the Bahá’í Faith and thousands of residents converted to the religion, including some Muslims.
In 1846, the Báb was prevented from circulating and censured by the governor of Shiraz who feared for the number of adherents he had won and for the speed with which the movement was growing. Revolted, his followers protested and managed to free the Báb from the city, but in 1848 it was again imprisoned, this time in Chihrig, a place further away, so that it would be more isolated from its supporters. During this period, he wrote his main book on laws and teachings.
Between 1848 and 1850 there were several massacres over the arrest of the Báb, and as a result of these, the Báb was taken to Tabriz and shot to death in public. His body was rescued by a follower and hidden for fifty years in different places, only after this period his body was buried in Haifa.
In 1852 the followers of the Báb decided to avenge him, but these were, for the most part, executed. Bahá’u’llah was spared his life because of his connection with the Russian minister in Tehran (they were brothers-in-law) and because of his social standing.

Bahá’u’llah together with the followers who did not participate in the revenge were persecuted, imprisoned and he, in this circumstance, wrote his main book, the Kitáb-i-Agda. He founded the Bahá’í Faith and spread it in 1863, the year in which the Báb's promised was proclaimed. Bahá’u’llah was arrested and exiled to places of extreme security, but not enough to prevent his eldest son, Abbás Effendi, from becoming the bearer and interpreter of his teachings. Abbás Effendi became known as Abdu’l-Bahá, the servant of glory.
