Despite the existence of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, the main economic activity in the State of Manaus. Amazonas is linked to primary activities, which generally correspond to a production that adds little value in the product.
Therefore, the main economic activities practiced in the State are: vegetal, mineral and animal extraction, respectively called extractivism.
In the mineral extraction, mainly limestone and tin are obtained, in the vegetal extraction there is the activity logging, extraction of Brazil nuts, collection of regional fruits, rubber and animal extraction, fishing.
In the state capital, the main industrial center, the Manaus Free Trade Zone, is concentrated in this Amazonian productive sector. stands out mainly the production of electronics, motorcycles, in addition to the processing of some ores and foods.
In agriculture, among others, rice, bananas, oranges and cassava are produced. Another source of income is tourism, as the state houses one of the restricted areas still preserved in the world, according to the FGV (Fundação Getúlio Vargas), ecotourism is the fastest growing segment in the state, around 6% per year.
