The Origin of Deodorant

Since the time of the Roman Empire, attempts have been made to control the sweat and odor produced by the armpits. The men of this era used small scented pillows under their armpits to reduce the odor caused by sweat.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the United States manufactured a product based on potassium sulfate and aluminum sulfate, which would be able to control sweat and reduce odor, and they named it deodorant.

Due to the high price, the product only spread in the West. After WWII prices dropped and so deodorant became affordable.
Today, the deodorant has several forms that can be chosen according to the need of each one, we find flavored or fragrance-free deodorants, with or without alcohol and those with or without agents bactericides.

Do not stop now... There's more after the advertising ;)

They can also be an antiperspirant, which closes about 50% of the sweat glands, or an antiperspirant which reduces the formation of bad odor and perspiration.
