Judaism is the oldest monotheistic religion in the world. It originated around the 18th century BC. C., when God sent Abraham to look for the promised land. Its development occurred together with the Hebrew civilization, through Moses, David, Solomon, etc., these last two being the kings who built the first temple in Jerusalem.
The Jews believe that YHWH (Yahweh or Jehovah in Portuguese) is the creator of the universe, a being omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient, which influences the entire universe and has a special relationship with your people. The holy book of the Jews is the Torah or Pentateuch, directly revealed by God. For Judaism, the deadliest sin of all is idolatry, that is, the practice of worshiping idols and images.
The services are held in temples called synagogues. Men wear a small cap, called a kippa, as a form of respect for God. The main rituals are circumcision, performed on 8-day-old boys, representing the mark of the covenant between God and Abraham and their descendants; and the Bar Mitzvah (boys) and Bat Mitzvah (girls), which represent early adulthood.

The sacred books within Judaism make no reference to the afterlife, however, after the Babylonian exile, the Jews assimilated this idea. In fact, these beliefs vary across various Jewish sects. The basis of the Jewish religion is in obedience to the divine commandments established in the books. sacred, since for them this is doing God's will and showing respect and love for the creator.
Judaism is the monotheistic religion that has the fewest adherents in the world, about 12 to 15 million.
