Gaza Strip is a territory located in Palestine, in between Israel it's the Egypt, along the Mediterranean Sea.
The territory is known to be in constant conflict, as it is claimed by the Palestinian National Authority as its property. It is not an independent country and its ownership is disputed through armed conflicts between Palestine and Israel.
This territory in southwestern Palestine is made up of a coastal plain that borders the Mediterranean coast and extends around the city of Gaza. It covers an area of 365 km2 and has about 1.8 million inhabitants.
The Gaza Strip is one of the most populated territories on the planet, has no natural resources and has a modest textile, food and ceramics industry, which was heavily affected by Israeli bombings during 2008 and 2009. It has little infrastructure and lack of water is constant. In the Gaza Strip is the city of Gaza itself, which features date palms and orchards. This city already existed in the times of Abraham and in it the biblical character Samson died.
After the disappearance of the Arab state of Palestine, Gaza came under Egyptian administration (1948). In 1967 the Israelis occupied it and from 1970 onwards a policy of settlement of settlers was instituted, accompanied by the mass expulsion of Palestinian refugees.
Conflicts in the Gaza Strip began shortly after the Palestinian parliamentary elections, when the party Hamas, known for its attacks and terrorist actions, won the elections and then assumed the Strip of Gaza. However, it is currently controlled by Israel, which has caused the conflicts.
The Gaza Strip is completely surrounded by walls, on all sides, to separate the two countries.
