Calculation of electrical resistance

If we connect different wires conductors to the same energy source, we will see that the currents obtained will be different from each other. This is because the thread itself offers "difficulties" in the passage of electric current. In order to measure this "difficulty", a new magnitude was defined: the resistance of the driver.

You resistorsthey are circuit elements that consume electrical energy, converting it entirely into thermal energy. The conversion of electrical energy into thermal energy is called Joule Effect.

Resistors can be found in various objects such as the shower, light bulb etc. The following figure shows how resistors are represented in an electrical circuit.

Equations

Electrical resistance (R) can be defined by the following equations:

or

In the equations above, we have:

U→ is the potential difference (ddp);

i→ is the intensity of the electric current;

R→ is the electrical resistance;

At the International System of Units (SI), the unit of measurement of electrical resistance is Oh M, whose symbol is Ω (omega). The name of this unit is a tribute to the physicist. George Simon Ohm.
