Theater. The Origin of Theater

The origin of theater refers to the first primitive societies that believed in imitative dances as favorable to supernatural powers for the control of facts indispensable for the survival.

In its development, the theater comes to represent legends referring to gods and heroes.

The theater appeared in Ancient Greece, in the century. IV a. C., as a result of the annual festivals in consecration to Dionysius, the god of wine and joy.

The word theater means a certain art, as well as the physical location in which that art is presented.

The implantation of the theater in Brazil was due to the Jesuits' efforts to catechize the Indians.
