Greenland is an autonomous territory of Denmark, its territory corresponds to a huge island, being the largest in the world. This portion of space is located near the northern coast of Canada, the glacial Arctic ocean; to the south it is washed by the Atlantic Ocean.
The population is approximately 57 thousand inhabitants, who occupy a territory of 2.2 million km².
Nuuk, capital of Greenland.
The country has a large concentration of ice, being surpassed in this regard only by Antarctica. Due to the low temperatures there is almost no vegetation, the ones that do exist are spread throughout the territory.
The main forested area is in the municipality of Nanortalik, located in the southern part of the territory.
The island has an Arctic climate, mild summers and harsh winters. In the northern region of the island there is great mineral wealth, with the main deposits of zinc, lead, iron ore, coal, molybdenum, gold, platinum and uranium. The economy is fragile, being dependent on fishing and mining and, above all, financial assistance from Denmark.
Approximately 88% of the population is ethnic Inuit, or a mixture of that and Danish. The remainder (12%) is European, which operates on the island extracting ores. Its population, for the most part, follows the Evangelical Lutheran religion.
