Rain and precipitation. Aspects of rainfall and precipitation

The rains are not the same because they can have different origins and different characteristics. They can be classified into:

• Orographic: occurs when moist air masses are prevented from following their path through the elements of the relief, like a mountain, then the clouds gain altitude and gather causing the precipitation.

• Convection: develops when the temperature is high and there is great evaporation, the vertical wind carries the steam to the altitudes causing cooling, thus producing precipitation or rain. This type of rain is known as torrential and has characteristics of being fast and abundant.

• Fronts: this type of rain has its origin in the meeting between a cold and a hot air mass.

Precipitations

The clouds that give rise to precipitation are of the strata and cumulus type. Precipitation occurs when the water vapor found in the clouds freezes due to from altitude, from this condensation it moves towards the earth's surface in a liquid or solid. Below are the types and forms of precipitation that exist:

Hail

Hail: corresponds to ice cubes, originates from the top of cumulus clouds, where the temperature is very low.

Snow

• Snow: this type of precipitation occurs through the low temperature of the clouds (0ºC) and promotes freezing of water vapor, thus producing small ice crystals. This type of precipitation occurs more frequently in temperate and polar climates.

Rain

Rain: it can occur during the process of evaporation of water in the interproperty zones of the planet, this process causes abundant rainfall, it can also develop from the meeting of two air masses, one hot and the other cold.
