Difficult, isn't it? After all, is there a magic formula that is capable of turning us into competent authors overnight? Well, you who know the Portuguese language know that, for this question, the answer is positive: no. They haven't invented anything more efficient than dedication and reading, these, in fact, are the right formulas for those who want to get along with the written word. For communication to be efficiently established between author and reader, it is essential to know all the resources that the language makes available to us, as well as it is necessary to expand our repertoire cultural.
Well, to give a little help to you who are dedicated to improving discursive competence, Brasil Escola has prepared some simple but efficient writing tips. These are tips that will facilitate your study routine and bring you closer to that grade 10 essay. Remember, these are just a few pointers! Tips for a Grade 10 essay:
Tip 1:Read and reread the topic of the essay.
This is the starting point. It seems like a simple tip, but the fact is that most people who apply for a vacancy in universities and public offices do not take due care with the theme of the newsroom. Some exams offer motivating texts (also known as compilations) that, when used well, can make all the difference between a 0 and a 10. Read, reread and, if necessary, repeat the reading until you understand the proposal.
Tip 2:Plan your text.
Not even great writers skip this step at the time of writing. Before starting to structure your text, delimit the theme, define the objective and select ideas that are capable of supporting the thesis that you will defend throughout the writing. Note a simple and objective outline that will make planning your text easier:

→ Theme: general subject of the text.
→ Delimitation of the theme: aspect of the topic that will be dealt with.
→ Purpose: what do you intend with your text?
→ Development ideas: arguments, examples, comparisons, confrontations and all the resources that help to support the point of view that will be presented to the reader.
Tip 3:Planning done, it's time to write!
Now that you know the paths to be taken (remember that this is planning, nothing prevents you from modifying, removing or adding ideas, right?), it's time to write. To positively impress the reader, choose a very attractive phrase to open your text with a golden key. You can use a quote (short, OK?), a statement, a question (as long as it is answered throughout the text and as long as it is not a rhetorical question), a verse, the lyrics of a song or poem, etc. There are many possibilities that can help “seduce” the reader and make him curious to check the rest of your text. Don't forget that each paragraph it should only contain an idea, and when you complete it, no matter what stage of the text you are working on (introduction, development, or conclusion), be convincing.
Tip 4:Be natural.
Being natural means you shouldn't build a wall between you and the reader. Many people sin for exaggerated formalism and end up resorting to confusing syntactic constructions and full of inversions, as well as for the use of obsolete words taken from some old dictionary. Do not do this. Value clarity and don't let the reader misunderstand the ideas you intend to convey; otherwise, communication, the primary function of language, will be impaired. To write naturally, you can employ features such as: pauses, use of active voice, direct questions and use of speech modals, elements that will not only help you express your position in relation to what is said, but will also provide greater interaction between you and the reader.
