Meaning of Bibliographic Research (What it is, Concept and Definition)

Bibliographic research consists of the initial stage of all scientific or academic work, with the objective of gathering information and data that will serve as a basis for the construction of the proposed investigation based on a given theme.

After choosing a specific theme to be addressed, the bibliographic research should be limited to the theme chosen by the researcher, serving as a way to go deeper into the subject. Thus, in addition to tracing a history of the object of study, bibliographical research also helps to identify contradictions and answers previously found about the questions asked.

It is also important to find out if work with similar issues has already been carried out, and if it is worth repeating the investigation. From the bibliographical research, it is possible to discover which is the best methodology to be used to produce the work.

The bibliographic survey is usually done from the analysis of secondary sources that approach, in different ways, the theme chosen for study. The sources can be books, articles, monographic documents, periodicals (newspapers, magazines, etc), texts available on reliable websites, among other places that have documented content.

After selecting the material, it should be read, analyzed and interpreted. During the bibliographic research process, it is important that the researcher takes notes and records about the contents that are most important, and that will eventually be used as a theoretical foundation in your work.

Bibliographic research is one of the types of research, regarding the technical procedures, which are usually more common, as well as the document research, which differs from the bibliographic in that it does not have an analytical treatment of its content; experimental research; the pushing; the field study; and the case study.
