The Federation of Micronesian States is a country of Oceania formed by more than 600 islands in the Pacific Ocean. The national territory has no land borders, with the closest countries being the Marshall Islands (to the northeast), Papua New Guinea (to the south), Nauru (to the southeast) and Palau (to the west).

With a territorial extension of just 702 square kilometers, the Federation of Micronesian States is divided into four states: Chuuk, Korae, Yap and Pohnpei, which houses the capital, the city of Palikir. The country has mountainous terrain and a tropical climate, with high temperatures most of the year.

The national population comprises approximately 111.1 thousand inhabitants, with a demographic density (relative population) of 158.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. Part of the inhabitants is affected by some socioeconomic problems, such as illiteracy and low per capita income. According to data released in 2010 by the United Nations (UN) ( https://brasilescola.uol.com.br/geografia/onu.htm), the country occupies the 103rd place in the world ranking of the Human Development Index (HDI), with an average of 0.614.

The economy of the Federation of Micronesian States is underdeveloped and the country's natural resources are limited, needing foreign help, especially from the United States of America (USA), which provide fuels. THE subsistence farming and fishing are the main economic activities.
